Iain Moynihan: Race 4, Landskouter, 117km’s.

BY admin

UP UP UP UP… This is what some 10 year old yelled at me as he made a pumping action with his arm that says “get back onto the bunch!”.  I did get back to the bunch but as soon as the road tilted up after a corner I was gone again.  Fortunately this was [...] [...]

Race 5, Lierde 106km’s

BY admin

Summer racing in Ghent can bring showers, cool weather, basically everything that Perth isn’t in Summer. Yet on this day I was graced with probably the best weather a northern European summer could offer, 25c, little wind, perfect. I rode out to the race solo as both Chris and Iain were taking a rest day. [...] [...]

Iain Moynihan: Race 3 Laarne Kermesse, 115km’s

BY admin

Another outstanding piece from Iain Moynihan on todays epic: Less awful… “Better” is a strong word and I therefore deem my ride today as “less awful”.  I have almost three times the amount of minutes with the peloton as I did last time I wrote for Rad Brad so here it is. Obviously the start [...] [...]

Iain Moynihan: Race 2 Kersken, 118km’s

BY admin

We’re not in Kansas anymore… So I’m sure many of you have been following Brad’s updates on racing in Ghent and the various hijinks that have occurred, my luggage not arriving, Andrew contracting a debilitating disease on the flight to Hong Kong where you couldn’t hear yourself think for all the coughing and sneezing, so [...] [...]

Race 2, Kersken 118km’s

BY admin

Todays weather was fine and windy, a pleasant change from the Belgium summer conditions over the last week. Some incredibly bad luck has eventuated from this trip: Iain losing his luggage, Iain getting stuck in a toilet due to a broken handle at the race inscription, Andrew getting bronchitis and is now off the bike [...] [...]

Race 1, 115km’s Zottegem.

BY admin

A baptism of fire this first race would be for both Iain and Andrew. The conditions were pretty poor: 15c, rain and a lot of wind. The par-course consisted of rolling terrain, this race is located in the heartland of Flanders, with several cobbled sections made all the more dangerous by the wet conditions. Riding [...] [...]

East Flanders Offensive (not in the military sense) Andrew Patterson, Iain Moynihan and Brad Hall have volunteered for the front line here in Gent East Flanders. A two week exploration, and exploitation, of the area in and around this canal laden district. Of the 14days we are here there are 12days of racing. We hope [...] [...]

Tour of Toowoomba, Stage 5, 50km Criterium

BY admin

2.4km Laps, 30m of ascension each lap, around 650m of climbing in an hour. A solid day out. Up down, left left, up down, left left: you know the drill. Around and around we went, the hill smashed whatever ‘form’ was left in the riders legs, mine included. Previous experience around this circuit has shown [...] [...]

Tour of Toowoomba, Stage 3 and 4: 16km TTT and 116km Road Race.

BY admin

Stage 3 TTT 16km’s With 5 riders this time trial was always going to be difficult. We set off at a high intensity as we attempted to get going post-haste… Straight away the intensity met threshold as these young men drove our small echelon onwards. Our rythym was even as each of us pulled well [...] [...]
