Iain Moynihan: Race 2 Kersken, 118km’s

BY admin

We’re not in Kansas anymore… So I’m sure many of you have been following Brad’s updates on racing in Ghent and the various hijinks that have occurred, my luggage not arriving, Andrew contracting a debilitating disease on the flight to Hong Kong where you couldn’t hear yourself think for all the coughing and sneezing, so [...] [...]

Race 2, Kersken 118km’s

BY admin

Todays weather was fine and windy, a pleasant change from the Belgium summer conditions over the last week. Some incredibly bad luck has eventuated from this trip: Iain losing his luggage, Iain getting stuck in a toilet due to a broken handle at the race inscription, Andrew getting bronchitis and is now off the bike [...] [...]

Race 1, 115km’s Zottegem.

BY admin

A baptism of fire this first race would be for both Iain and Andrew. The conditions were pretty poor: 15c, rain and a lot of wind. The par-course consisted of rolling terrain, this race is located in the heartland of Flanders, with several cobbled sections made all the more dangerous by the wet conditions. Riding [...] [...]

Tour of Toowoomba, Stage 5, 50km Criterium

BY admin

2.4km Laps, 30m of ascension each lap, around 650m of climbing in an hour. A solid day out. Up down, left left, up down, left left: you know the drill. Around and around we went, the hill smashed whatever ‘form’ was left in the riders legs, mine included. Previous experience around this circuit has shown [...] [...]

Tour of Toowoomba, Stage 3 and 4: 16km TTT and 116km Road Race.

BY admin

Stage 3 TTT 16km’s With 5 riders this time trial was always going to be difficult. We set off at a high intensity as we attempted to get going post-haste… Straight away the intensity met threshold as these young men drove our small echelon onwards. Our rythym was even as each of us pulled well [...] [...]

Tour of Toowoomba, Stage 2, 126km’s.

BY admin

Today’s stage was the decider for the general classification. A 30km ascent to the great dividing range was to feature as the make or break par-course for the overall honors. With Plan B not having a pure climber on board, we made the decision to try and make a breakaway in the hope of gaining [...] [...]

Tour of Toowoomba, Stage 1, 139km’s

BY admin

http://www.touroftoowoomba.com.au/ Todays stage was fast and flowing with several undulations that sort to break the peloton into smaller parts. It took about 110km’s of racing for the field to begin to dismantle as the more experienced riders in myself and Alex Smyth moved forward and stayed toward the front bubble that accumulated on the final [...] [...]

Tour of Thailand Stage 6

BY admin

The final stage of the tour was a 130km meander through rolling terrain across Thailand’s northern boarders. The first 2/3’s of the race was mainly flat with the final 30km’s more undulating in nature. A king of the mountain (KOM) was located around the 118km mark, thereafter consisted of a series of 1km climbs that [...] [...]

Tour of Thailand Stage 5

BY admin

Flat and fast are the best words to describe today’s stage. From the commencement attacks were the only order of the day. Plan B were immediately on the front foot with all the riders asserting themselves through the first half of the race. Several breaks went out with Plan B having 2 riders in each. [...] [...]
